Born in Shiga, Japan, in 1984. After graduate studies at Y-GSA, Yokohama National University, he worked at the Danish architecture office BIG. Since returning to Japan in 2010 he has worked independently on projects of every industry and scale, from founding an IT venture to branding and real estate development.
In 2016 he resolved to “build the world’s best hotel in Shiga.” Searching the mountains for a site, he saw the beauty of thatched roofs and farmland, and the harsh reality of the villages. The question became an inquiry into ideas, and the foundation of LAND/MADE.
LAND/MADE holds land and buildings in common, village by village, and combines rental housing with lodging, aiming for a dynamic equilibrium in which people and money keep circulating between village and city. He began building the business in 2025 and incorporated in August 2026.
Through several businesses in Japan’s hilly and mountainous areas, which will otherwise decay or disappear before long, he works to pass on the diverse cultures rooted in lands across Japan to future generations.
